Pre-Release Official Nikon D800/D800E Details Here are the Latest Details on the upcoming Nikon D800. The Nikon without the AA filter will be called Nikon D800E. Its Expected that Nikon will release the D800 on February 07, 2012 The device presented at Nikon press conference in Thailand on February 7 will be neither a D3200 or a D4100 or a D8100 but rather a D800. This is no surprise as Nikon has now officially stopped promoting the Nikon D700 and Nikon D300s on its core Japanese website. Brief Details on the Nikon D800/D800E: The version without the AA filter will be called Nikon D800E The D800/D800E will “read” images with 12 different channels (14-bit conversion) 16 bit image processing with EXPEED 3 3.2 in. LCD display 100% viewfinder coverage New bracketing button Start-up and shutter delay identical to the D4 The D800/D800E will use the EN-EL15 battery, same as D7000 Like the D4, the D800/D800E will be able to take up to 850 shots on a single battery charge which is less than the D700 that could go up to 1000 (based on CIPA standard) The optional battery pack for the D800/D800E will be called MB-D12 In some markets (I think Europe) the Nikon D800/D800E will include Capture NX2 Complete Details on the Nikon D800/D800E: The D800 replaces the D700 by a case based on a chassis-cast magnesium shell, filled with many joints and protections antiruissellement. Nikon has managed to reduce the D800 one hundred grams compared to its predecessor. Sensor It uses a new sensor 24 x 36 to 36 MP, apparently original and based on Sony Exmor technology, guarantees low noise and wide dynamic range (features “per pixel” should be very close to those of APS-C version of Nex7 24 Mpix). The sensitivity range is from 100 to 6400 ISO (ISO 50 to 24,800 L and H). We can expect an image completely free of grain in ISO 1600 A2 (performance APS-C 24 Mpix on a larger format allowed by the definition record). Video This sensor delivers the Full HD 1024p at 30, 25 and 24 i / s. There is a headphone jack and control PCM recorder. HDMI output provides an uncompressed video stream, such as the D4. D4 as always, it allows the setting of f-stops during filming. And of course the contrast detect AF tracks a face if necessary. D4 offers 3 sizes of cropping, the D800 only 2. Going, AF The D800 has a 100% viewfinder, expected correction in the viewfinder of the D700, measured at only 93%. It incorporates the EXPEED processor 3 and the new modules and AF metering D4, which means collaboration between scene recognition and face and Dynamic AF, metering of 91,000 RGB dots, AF 51 AF points sensitive to IL-2 and features 11 tracks operating at f /8 (Central Beach is a cross up to f /8). Its TFT screen is the classic 8.1 inches diagonally and 920,000 points. Other features The rate is 4 i / s 14-bit (lossless compressed RAW), and 6 f / s with maximum grip MB-D12-booster. The recording is on CF and SD card. It offers compatibility with the WiFi module WT-4 (but not with the new module WT D4-5) and an interface USB3. There will be a very special version of “high resolution” with no anti-aliasing filter, whose cost will be higher by about 10% (related to small series). We do not know if this version will be present along the D800 normal or if it will be provided only on request, via specific network.
One of the most common rookie mistakes made by photography enthusiasts is skimping on memory cards. Opting for something generic, or worse, cheap. It goes without staying that a memory card is as important as any other piece of camera equipment, in fact more so, since it stores all your data.
With cameras becoming more advanced day by day, it is imperative to invest in a high-performing memory card, such as the newly announced Sony XQD memory cards. No surprises that the announcement comes close on the heels of the impending release of the Nikon D4 , which is a XQD compatible high-end DSLR. The Sony XQD cards when used in conjunction with the D4, can record up to approximately 100 frames in RAW format in continuous shooting mode (10 fps), which is impressive to say the least. According to Sony internal tests, the cards are also capable of blazing fast data transfer rates of up to 1Gbps/125MB/s write and read, something that the conventional compact flash cards fail to deliver.

Interestingly, the folks over at Sony will also realize a USB 2.0/3.0 compatible XQD card reader (model MRW-E80) and an XQD ExpressCard Adapter (QDA-EX1).
“Advanced shooters want to capture the moment in the highest quality possible, and that often means dealing with massive files like RAW images,” said Viviano Cantu, Director of Consumer Media for Sony Electronics. “Memory card technology has done a great job of keeping pace, but these new cards give an entirely new meaning to speed and performance.”
The latest additions to the Sony family will see a February debut and the prices are listed below:
QD-H16 card, 16 GB, $129.99
QD-H32 card, 32 GB, $229.99
Card Reader, MRW-E80, $44.99
ExpressCard Adapter, QDA-EX1, $44.99

I already mentioned about the Nikon event on February 7th, 2012 but I was not sure what would be announced on that date. It will be the Nikon D800. The camera will have 36MP (not 24MP like reported on several websites). The new Coolpix cameraswill be introduced on February 2nd, 2012. For all US readers this means [...]
